¾ Cup Milk
1 Tbl Yeast
1 tsp Salt
3 Tbl Sugar
3 Tbl Oil
2-2 ½ Cups Flour
Olive Oil for Brushing
Herbs (Dried Parsley, Oregano, Rosemary, etc.)
Heat milk in saucepan or microwave until lukewarm. If using microwave, heat for 30 seconds.
In a medium bowl, combine milk, yeast, sugar, salt, and oil. Let it stand for 5 minutes ir until foam begins to form from the yeast.
Optional: Add dried herbs to mixture before adding flour.
Add flour ½ cup at a time until the dough can be handled. You will likely use 2 cups of flour.
On a lightly floured surface knead dough until it becomes smooth and elastic. You will use the remaining ¼- ½ cup of flour during this process.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for at least 1 hour, or overnight.
Once dough has risen, punch it down. Divide into 2-4 pieces depending on how large the flatbread will be.
Roll dough out thin into a circle, square, or rectangle. Place breads on a baking pan.
Brush doughs with olive oil before baking.
Bake flatbreads at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until desired crispness.
