2 Cups Flour

1 tsp Salt

3 Tbl Shortening (Lard or Oil)

¾ Cup Water

Notes: These tortillas are great for tacos, fajitas,

Mexican pizzas, quesadillas, Mexican lasagna,

or just plain with salsa or queso dipping sauce!

  1. In a Large bowl, combine Flour and salt. Add in shortening, cut together with pastry blender, or use hands (with gloves).

  2. Add water to flour mixture. Stir until a dough is formed.

  3. On a floured surface, knead dough about 12-15 times (or about 1-2 minutes). Let rest for 10 minutes.

  4. Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. For larger tortillas divide into eight.

  5. On a floured surface, roll out tortillas into 5-inch circles (7 inches if making eight). Repeat until all are done. Set Aside.

  6. Grease a griddle or cast-iron pan. Once heated, cook each side of the tortilla about 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown. Repeat the process for each tortilla.

  7. Serve with choice of toppings!
